Thanks to everyone who’s joined and welcome to our special portal – get ready for a hot abolition summer. We’re going to #StopCopCity – more info coming on that soon and we’re looking forward to having some live convos in the near future.
This week is a special episode where King & I promise to talk about gentrification for about an hour 💯and on our way there, we talk about King’s recent amazing feature story and media narratives running the city. This episode will be available to all, but patrons are getting it a bit earlier than everyone else.
We’re not doing our regular weekly podcast because of the holiday weekend and some scheduling conflicts, so I asked King to join me this week to discuss the connection between gentrification and policing. I started the talk asking him to share more of his thoughts surrounding his recent piece entitled “Atlanta is losing the narrative, “which was originally published in his newsletter and is co-published in The Mainline.
Our thoughts took up the hour but it’s a great discussion about the media systems in Atlanta and how it affects things like gentrification, development, and policing in the city. Consider this part one of a long Twitter thread, except instead of tweets, they are podcast discussions. We will be doing the episode specifically connecting gentrification and policing soon.
