Mainline’s Year-End Review, 2024: Part One

Our newest podcast covering some of the most important events of the year locally and internationally, from our perspective—with Aja Arnold & Lindsay Thomaston

Happy New Year’s Eve to all our subscribers! We’re saying goodbye to 2024 with this special year-end review episode featuring our Founder & Publisher Aja Arnold and guest contributor Lindsay Thomaston.

We carefully selected six events that we felt were critical for both Atlanta and the world stage, particularly stories we felt didn’t receive the level of coverage they deserved.

In this episode we discuss the Gaza Solidarity and Stop Cop City encampments at Emory University in April, Charis Bookstore’s 50th anniversary in July, and the Georgia abortion ban that was lifted in September following the deaths of Amber Nicole Thurman and Candi Miller in 2022.

In part two, we will discuss the racist attack on local DIY band Kayleigh at Ideal Sports Bar, the CEO murder and the connection between Luigi Mangione’s terrorism charge and those of Cop City protesters, and Tortuguita’s parents’ lawsuit refuting Tortuguita’s killing by police—all three of which occurred in December alone. (December really has been the month that keeps on giving.)

We also acknowledge the ongoing genocide in Palestine, particularly highlighting the Israeli military’s targeting of journalists, and the death of Jimmy Carter.

Part Two will be released after a short holiday break.

Until then,
