i’ve been wanting to tackle fear and the media for a while, but the whole “inflation nation” (eye roll) scheme running rampant in mainstream media right now got my motivation up. episode includes thoughts on how this relates to the labor movement (the establishment blaming workers) — how this all goes back to our concepts of worthiness in ourselves.
when you’re triggered, try “going limp” – plus, some tips of how to reset the algorithm of your life:
– wallow in gratitude
– think about something regenerative, like nature or even how powerful the human body is
– listen to one of your favorite albums from start to finish
– go for a walk
– literally shake your body (animals do this to shake off trauma and move it through the system; otherwise we keep spinning)
– give 5, 10, 20 bucks to a houseless neighbor
– meditate
– have fun
– unplug for a little while and re-engage when you’re in a “be in the world, but not of it” sort of space
everyone is consistently responding to their own personal fears, and many of them are culture-based. in this episode I talk about the latest fear example in the media about inflation and its connection to a long-standing trend. remember there’s many scenes of the collective movie of humanity we aren’t seeing and that media molds our perception, much of it on purpose. we can choose differently and point our perception elsewhere.
ICYMI check out Noam Chomsky “Requiem for the American Dream” (not be confused with Requiem for a Dream, for the love of god do not watch requiem for a dream).
there is a power shift at play (in our favor; remember we are entering the new world), and the status quo is responding in direct proportion to the amount of healing that’s taken place in the lower/working classes. the old world won’t go down easily, so we can expect continuous backlash. it’s not dissimilar to how governments responded to the uprisings with more cops, more police spending, and more brutality. we choose which direction we go.
here is one write-up about inflation i actually liked from a local paper in massachusetts, connecting the topic of inflation and how it’s delivered to us and the working class.
ps here’s some art i made in nyc – shot in the east village
stay up, y’all <3
