Hey y’all,
Here is an extended play of a conversation I had with Sunny, organizer of local mutual aid org Sol Underground, a self-described “Black-led autonomous anti-fascist anti-capitalist eco-system fighting for Black and Indigenous liberation.” Sunny and I recorded this talk in mid-November during a temporary hotel stay Sol Underground organized for some of our houseless neighbors in the city. This talk has been sitting in our arsenal for a while and I wanted to wait til the best time to air it — with temps dropping for the winter, I figured it would be a good time to get it out there to direct our community focus to mutual aid efforts working to provide people with what they need when they need it.
If you’re donating your time, money, and/or energy to any community efforts, please consider doing so with mutual aid over nonprofits and private-public partnerships at this time. The revolution is pretty simple: providing people with what they need when they need it, no red tape. That’s what mutual aid is doing, and in Atlanta, they need all the support they can get.
